14.2. Safety locks and the relay

THE GENERAL DATA

THE RELAY

The arrangement and appointment of the relay and safety locks depending on car updating can differ. The designation of an operated and protected electric chain is put on a block cover.

The main block is located in a back part of a motor compartment from outside the driver. The additional block in cars made till 01.1991 is located over a ware box, and in cars made with 01.1991 in a back part of a motor compartment from outside the passenger.

Relays can switch strong currents on distance, allowing that to use weak operating switches and conductings.

Unlike mechanical switches of the relay can cope more than one signal.

Some relays can function on the timer, for example, in a faltering operating mode of screen wipers or windscreen heating.

If in a contour equipped with the relay, malfunction always it is necessary to remember is found out that the problem can consist in the relay. Check can be carried out replacement by obviously serviceable relay.

For relay replacement to take it from a nest and to insert the new. Access to the relay in the main box is carried out the same as and to safety locks. Access to the relays located under the panel of devices, is carried out after removal of its top part.

The relay of a drive of the hatch is located in the top console.

SAFETY LOCKS

The accumulator is protected from short circuit by a safety lock from outside a positive pole.

The mainframe of safety locks and the relay is located on the right in a motor compartment, about a partition. In it there is to 24 safety locks and almost as much a relay (depending on the equipment). The list of safety locks is on an underside of a cover of the block.

In car salon there is an additional block of safety locks access to which is possible after opening of a cover of a ware box.

The safety lock for a radio receiver is located on a wire of a food of a radio receiver under the forward panel on the left side near a heater.

All safety locks ножевого type also have the colour corresponding to a certain current of protection of a safety lock. Serviceability of a safety lock is defined on presence of a wire conductor of a safety lock connecting contacts.

For replacement of the failed safety lock it is necessary to switch off a corresponding electric chain preliminary. To take the failed safety lock from a nest by means of tweezers or special captures.

In a case if again established safety lock instantly fails at pressure giving, it is necessary to check up a protected electric chain. If the safety lock protects simultaneously some electric chains, they are necessary for connecting by turns that on перегоранию safety lock to define a faulty chain and then to eliminate malfunction.

It is not recommended to establish instead of failed a safety lock on больщую a current strength as it can lead to serious damages, including to a fire.

In some electric chains, such as electric motors стеклоподъемника and a regulator of position of seats, instead of safety locks are established thermal relays which automatically join after overload elimination.
