3.5.4.6. Check and adjustment of turns of idling
THE GENERAL DATA

The prevention

For check of number of turns of the diesel engine the special tachometre is required.

Number of turns of idling with the fuel pump of a high pressure: DPC – 775±50 rpm.; DPRC – 875±25 rpm.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. To warm up the engine before inclusion of the fan of a radiator.
2. To wait (at the engine idling) while the fan it will not be switched off.
3. To switch off the engine and to connect a special tachometre according to the applied instruction.
4. To start the engine, thus all electric consumers should be switched off.
5. To unscrew the screw of the terminator of the lever of a stop of the engine before backlash occurrence between the screw and the lever (fig. the Screw of the terminator of the lever of a stop of the engine (1) and the screw of adjustment of turns of idling (2 see)).
6. To check up number of turns of idling. For regulation of number of turns of idling it is necessary to weaken a counternut and to rotate the adjusting bolt located about the lever of the fuel pump, before reception of necessary number of turns (fig. the Screw of the terminator of the lever of a stop of the engine (1) and the screw of adjustment of turns of idling (2 see)).
7. Довинтить the screw of an emphasis of the lever of a stop of the engine before contact to the lever and the beginning of increase in turns of idling.
8. To deduce the engine on the maximum turns (no more than for 5 seconds) to release a pedal of an accelerator and to measure time of reduction of turns to idling turns. If time exceeds 4 seconds it is necessary to adjust time of reduction of turns.
9. To remove a cable of an accelerator from a control lever the fuel pump of a high pressure.
10. To establish adjusting template Ford 23-016 (2) on a screw head of adjustment of idling. In the absence of a template to establish a plate in the thickness of 3 mm instead of a template (fig. Installation of adjusting template Ford 23-016 (2) on the screw of adjustment of turns of idling (1 see)).
11. To start the engine and to measure turns of the engine which should be in limits 900±30 rpm. If necessary to establish a preset value of turns the screw of adjustment of turns of idling of the engine.
12. To remove a template, to connect an accelerator cable, to check up and if necessary to adjust turns of idling of the engine.
13. If the number of turns decreases too sharply the engine tends to a stop. In that case it is necessary to unscrew the screw on 1/4 turns. If the number of turns decreases too slowly it is necessary to screw up the screw on 1/4 turns. In each of these cases to check up and if necessary to adjust turns of idling of the engine.
